Met
One Instruments to Supply US-EPA With Pollution Samplers for "Trends" Sites
For Immediate Release
Editorial Contact: Dr. David Gobeli
GRANTS PASS, Oregon - October 26, 2000 - Met One Instruments
is pleased to announce that it will be supplying the majority
of particulate monitoring samplers for the EPA's TRENDS Sites
around the United States. Particulate speciation samplers are
used to gather PM2.5 particulate samples for further analysis
to determine concentrations of a wide array of chemical species
all thought to have an adverse effect on the public health. These
chemical species include nitrates, sulfates, elemental and organic
carbon, and a variety of anions and cations. One goal of establishing
the TRENDS network is to establish benchmark data for the concentration
of these chemical compounds throughout the United States and
to provide a database for environmental and healthcare professionals.
"We have been working closely with the US-EPA, and are
pleased with the results", remarked Dr. David Gobeli, Technical
Director. Of the 54 nationwide sites to be equipped with the
particulate mass speciation samplers, at least 40 of them will
have the Met One Instruments SASS Speciation Sampler deployed.
According to Frank Lawson, Marketing Director, "we are now
focused on delivering the high quality product, and providing
the service and support necessary to exceed the expectations
of the US-EPA and the state and municipal air pollution districts
using the equipment."
Dr. Gobeli went on to add "there is no question that the
combination of portability, ease of use, and excellent technical
support from our staff in Grants Pass made the Met One sampler
an undeniable winner. We carefully studied the US-EPA requirements,
and worked with the day-to-day users of the equipment, to become
the favored supplier." Met One Instruments, under contract
with the US-EPA, has been developing aerosol sampling equipment
suitable for collecting PM2.5 (particle mass for particles up
to 2.5 microns in diameter) samples.
Established in 1989, Met One Instruments is a privately-held,
leading worldwide supplier of electronic instrumentation used
in meteorological weather systems, and ambient air pollution
monitoring. For further information, access our web page at www.metone.com,
